keep on with the force

Friday again! Lots of kids are skipping school today, so it’s kinda loud all around me. No worries, though. Got my headphonebabies on and I’m listening to Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall album, which I believe was meant for Fridays. It’s rumored that he originally wanted to call this album “Pelvis Poppin’ Party Jams,” but his producer thought that “Off the Wall” was more fitting, and he was probably right. But anyone who wants to step to Michael Jackson--- be they media, private citizen, music critic or Boy Scout troop leader --must first listen to this incredibly perfect album before unleashing any criticism. The man is gifted. It is clear, about two songs into this joint, that the real Michael Jackson is dead and that this Devra Gregory woman has taken over. Mark my words, in her basement you will find cases upon cases of make up and the tattered remains of the King of Pop. She sucks his skeleton at night because she thinks the marrow of his bones will somehow enhance her dancing skills. The details are in Wendy Magazine if you care to investigate yourself.

I am pretty sad about the Senate’s decision to allow oil drilling in the Arctic Wild Life Refuge. Do these people not watch Discovery Channel? No, they don’t. They probably watch themselves on C-Span. Look at these guys. You know what they’re thinking. “Oh…fuck.”

That’s right boys. Homelessness awaits you, but at least the rest of us can gas up our Hummers for pretty cheap. The good news is that Barbara Boxer is leading up a consumer boycott of any oil company that will not publicly declare that they aren’t going to drill in the Wild Life Refuge. I love economic protesting because I feel like our money has much more immediate power to change things. I figure all my angry letters and emails take some time to filter through the system and get to the appropriate decision maker, but my money is another story. Money talks. So no more chatting with the likes of ChevronTexaco, Shell, BP, ExxonMobil unless they will take some responsibility for raping the pristine wilderness. Even if it costs more money elsewhere, I believe in making a statement. Besides, it’s always good to support the underdog. Let’s seek out the mom and pop gas stations. Or at least the ethical ones. Like ExxonMobil doesn’t have enough money. I used to work on their advertising, so I know.

In other news, we’ve selected May 21 for our next party, so save the date. This one’s going to be big—we’re teaming with our neighbors and opening up all 3 apartments for a three-tiered theme party (free booze AND prizes, what more could you want?) Details are forthcoming.
