it's not the $$, it's the principle

I bought some special batteries on eBay for 25 cents and the listing said shipping was a flat rate of $3. When the item arrived, i was curious as to see why they shipped the batteries in a regular white business envelope. Not padding, no $3 stamp, no love. It had one 37 cent stamp and a bunch of 1-cent stamps (they make 1-cent stamps!!??) So i email the seller and ask.

"Hello, I just rec'd this item in the mail and noticed that the actual cost of shipping was 49 cents. Why do you list the item at $3 for shipping?"

His response:
Because E-bay charges me a % on the final price, and nothing on the shipping, so this way I get charged less by e-bay and can keep my prices low. Thank you for understanding. Have a great night!

Now the way I see it, this isn't fair. It's ebay and you can adjust your price to whatever you want it to be. The buyer shouldn't have to pay for eBays bunk system. That's the sellers fault. If you can't take the heat, bake your brownies in someone else's kitchen. There are, like, 20 gazillion auction sites, are there not? This is an instance of false advertising. He's making a profit of the shipping. I'm prepared to leave him negative feedback to warn other buyers that this invented policy is in effect. But before I post, I want opinions.

Is it just me, or is this the very bullshit that makes eBay stank???
