Teenagers on politics
Back in November, we had a mock election. Each day, we'd post both candidates' position on an issue and explain them to the kids. After, they'd come up to the cafe and vote for a candidate per day depending on how they felt about that issue. My office is just a foot away, so I was busy scribblin down everything they'd say. Below are some quotes. I just found this list of quotes in my office and thought, "only in San Francisco." My friend Todd also does a zine when he subs in the middle schools called "Drawing on Bush." I wonder how the same zine would look if he created it with kids in the Midwest.
--------------
“I voted for John Kerry because I HATE Bush.”
Vicky: WHY?
“He threw a bomb at them first and all the soldiers wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for him.”
--------------
“How do you get to be president anyway? You pay people!”
-------------
I agree with Kerry because he wants to end the war.
--------------
I voted for Kerry ‘cause he’s better than Bush. I watched the debates in school. There was 3 of em’. They were boring and long.
--------------
Did you vote? It’s my future! You need to vote.
--------------
“Kerry thinks of the people instead of war which is wasting the troops’ time.
