Art Reception & Greasy Food

And there I was, on Friday at happy hour, filling my face with food and beer and furiously scribbling in the collaborative drawing jam that was happening as part of an art reception for local SF artists. Tasty onion rings!

The thing I love about collaborative drawing is that eventually my sucky drawing is improved by someone else down the line. It really does boost the confidence to feel like you created something as a team.

When I was a youngster, my dad worked at the local paper. He had access to the giant rolls of paper that were leftover after that day's printing. He'd bring the rolls home to us and my mom would cover the kitchen table with a huge roll of the paper and spill markers and crayons all over it. My sister created (or did she?) this game called, "Switch-a-roo" in which you drew for a while and then when someone yelled the magic word, "Switch-a-roo!!!" then everyone would get up and move one seat over, adding to what was already drawn in this seat. In the end, you end up back in your original seat and are delighted to see what became of your initial creation. This is a great way to keep a bunch of wild, bratty children content for hours. To this day, it's still my favorite game of all time.
