suck it, Schwarzenegger

Even thought it's only Wednesday, I'm feeling pretty good today. It's a nice sunny day and Schwarzenegger's initiatives were crushed in yesterday's special election. I'm savoring this victory over Silly Arnie.

In other news, the staff at my work pressured my boss into giving us Friday off, so this is a short week for me. Hooray! This makes me happy since it took me an hour and 45 minutes to get home from work last night. Fuck you, Muni. The alternative, I suppose, would be shelling out ridiculous prices at the pump to drive here.

In a recent conversation with my coworkers, I asked them how often they filled up their tanks. Each of them live and work in the same neighborhood. With no more than .5 mile separating their jobs and homes, their total round-trip commute to work averages 1 mile per day/5 miles per week. Half-baked said he fills his tank once a week and spends about $40. Clubbo says that she fills hers once a week also, spending $30. (For some reason, I doubt her once-a-week estimate, possibly because she was bragging about racking up 10,000 miles in 7 months.) When I asked them at what price per full-tank they would stop buying gas, reduce or cease driving, and take public transportation, Half-baked said his top price is $200/week and Clubbo said $50/week. It's an interesting thought, really. I think I'll ask more people this question.

At what cost per full tank of gas would you have to give up driving?
