Found: Singer/songwriter Photo in the Gutter

Last weekend we went to see Iron & the Albatross at the Red Poppy Art House. The opening acts were The Blank Tapes and Kathryn Jensen. We'd seen Kathryn play here before, and she was great, but for some reason, this set just blew me away.

Maybe it was the collaboration with Matt McCluer, Ara Anderson and Matt Adams ( from The Blank Tapes). Maybe it was the cute song about Golden Gate Park. Maybe it's just that her voice is a magical musical instrument. Whatever it was, it made for an evening of great music.

After the show, I noticed a photograph laying in the gutter outside the Art House. It was one of those tiny ones that you use for your passport or some other kind of i.d. I picked it up and saw a familiar face.

It was Kathryn Jensen! The photo was probably taken two or three years ago, based on the length of her hair. What a bizarre souvenir. When one finds a passport photo laying in the gutter, one's mind conjures thwarted elborate plots involving abductions and ransom and crafting false identification for the purposes of international espionage or top-secret undercover police work. But since I'd just seen her inside, I can rest at ease knowing that she probably just dumped her purse out searcing for just the right lipstick before the show.
