Sophie's World

Has anyone ever read this book? I remember it came out in paperback when I first moved to DC back in 1997 or 98 and I really wanted to read it then, but I am older now and I've read mixed reviews. I have been curious about philosophy so I figured this book might be a gentle introduction. Let me know what you think if you've read it.
