The art of Burning Man: rubber horses

As recycling art goes, this was my absolute favorite piece. "Rubber Horses" are 3 steel frame sculptures covered in tire scraps found littering highways leading to Burning Man. The piece is an "homage to wild Nevada, home to the largest population of wild horses in the United States." The horses were huge, yet not quite actual size. I think the artist intentionally made them a tad smaller so that participants could mount them and pose for pictures. I appreciated the opportunity to have a sculpture become interactive, but the thought of sitting on rubber and rebar in the blazing desert heat didn't appeal to me, for some reason.
