Mother and Child: "Passage"

Another piece of mind-boggling art out on the open playa that begs the question: how the fuck did they get this giant masterpiece out here?!? I stared in awe each time I passed by.



The mother is 30-feet tall and her child is 20-feet tall, so standing beneath them made you feel like an ant on the sidewalk. The mother's hand poured a liquid flame into the child's hand, then it dripped down into a long pool of fire around them. The hands poured water into little pools on the ground, and two trails of burning footprints stretched out behind them.

The fire and fluids make this piece come to life. Fortunately, I wasn't doing any substances too mind-altering, because I can imagine these two actually coming to life, and I would just lose my shit.

We went for a bike ride one night and took this photo just as the sun was going down. They look pretty peaceful and serene at dusk, but don't be fooled. These two are crazy wild beasts! They'll crush your Toyota and melt your face off!
