You pass by something like this during the day, and you're not sure what to make of it. Giant sculpture, probably very heavy, but why and how?




They're configured into a hexagonal, grouped together on the playa, and when you pass by the same art at night, you can hardly wrap your brain around its beauty.



It's puking fire! It's designed with a tiny robot! It's so fucking cool, you want to cry.



Synapses is a community-built fire installation that was sparked up four nights during the week. The six metal sculptures that comprise this installation were built in workshops by a team of artists across the country. Think of all the hours of labor and the time dedicated to the colloborative nationwide effort of moving these oversized steel ovens out to Black Rock City. Meanwhile, I was sitting in my apartment, starting at the track lighting and wondering how much new lightbulbs cost.
