trashitty trash, my true love

My lady thinks I am obsessed with trash. Sometimes she calls me "Trash-o" but mostly she calls me "Save-o" because I am one of those freakish people that belongs on a Dr. Phil episode about hoarding. I keep things to use them later, and sometimes I actually do. "What draws me to trash," you don't ask? Well I will tell you.

It's this: Metatron Transformer, a life-size Japanese robot, is made from industrialized tossed-away junk, and salvaged/saved/recycled materials. He's a sonic sculpture with electronic drum triggers designed to amplify multiplex/arrayed MIDI samples upon touch. (The photo was from the Coachella music festival.)

NoSpectators.com has a cool podcast all about Mr. Metatron.

Although we live in a disposable culture, the recycling and reuse businesses now employ about as many people as the auto industry. It's true. I read it in a very interesting article on Alternet. The bad news is that everyone is throwing away cans and plastic bottles because we are lazier now than we were back in the 90s. The good news is that there's finally someplace to put your old cell phones, outdated printers, antifreeze and stinky carpets. In fact, almost every single item in your house can be reused. Find out how here, or else start building your own 9-foot tall sonic robot.
